The Senate appoints an Equality Committee and, on the Committee’s recommendation, appoints a member of the university staff as Equality Officer for a term of four years. The Equality Committee supports the Equality Officer in carrying out her duties.

The central Equal Opportunities Officer supports the departmental Equal Opportunities Officers in each Faculty.

A new Equal Opportunities Officer will be elected in October 2026.

The Faculty Council shall appoint a decentralised equality officer from among the full-time academic staff for a term of three years; this officer shall be responsible for developing and implementing the equality mandate in close cooperation with the central equality officer. Her rights, duties and obligations are enshrined in the Higher Education Act.
